Kids and Dogs

New addition to the family? Whether you are bringing a new born child home to your dog, or bringing a new dog home to your child, there are important things to know about mixing the two together. It can be daunting for the dog when he realises that all of a sudden, he’s no longer the centre of your world.

Unfortunately, by the age of 14, most children have either been bitten or scared by a dog. Sometime it’s the child’s fault, and other times it’s the dog to blame. There are steps that need to be taken before the child enters the home, long before the birth and when bub arrives. Proper preparation will ensure the best possible start to this new and wonderful relationship. It is also vital to teach both your child and dog how to behave around one another.
